Working with the client
A read of this page, with the plate.

Acknowledge what they present. Some have never been fully heard, reassured, and championed. You may be the first. Honor that trust, and don’t betray it. Treat everything they tell you as the truth. You may suspect that the client’s perspective might be personal or one-sided, but your job is to protect her and allow her to come to a healing. Maybe his mother really was an ogre, or maybe her mother had problems of her own that limited her. Her mother isn’t your client. Your primary job is to care for the client you do have. It’s his appointment. It’s about him. It’s not about you. Share enough while you work. Not a lecture. Science for the one who wants a cascade. Crystals and drums for the one who lives there. With many of her clients they laughed a lot together. With others they never did, because there was such an ambience of fear and grief. That’s OK too. One time a client criticized her for laughing, and said it was unprofessional. She told her she regretted that she couldn’t share it, but her professional credential gave her explicit permission to laugh when things are funny. Since she didn’t have a license with letters after her name, she gave herself a BBC Practitioner credential, signed by Suzuki, her cat. The woman never came back, and that was OK with her. You do not ask why they created that. You do not say they wanted it. That is a blame parked as a sermon. Kind authority, not a pontificate. Do not be explicit about describing past lives for kids — skip the gory images, you don’t want to give them more nightmare material. The last asks — stop, water, the key, follow-up — wait until the end of the session.
Practice
Practice three sentences that hear without diagnosing. Strike any sentence that parks a karma. Journal the strike. Permission to laugh when things are funny.
