Chapter 2 of 16 · Ari Boar after Kapel

Muscle movement

No one is quite sure how a thought becomes a movement precise enough for speech. The muscle still answers.

We do not know the last power that lets a muscle move on command. We can still describe the mechanism closely enough to enter it with curiosity. That is Kapel’s humility, and it is the academy’s. Knowing how a fiber contracts lets you respect why a body can say yes and no with an arm.

The synapse, and the stop

A motor nerve arrives at an end plate. Acetylcholine is packed in vesicles, released across a synaptic cleft, and binds nicotinic receptors on the muscle membrane. Sodium enters. The membrane depolarizes. That electrical wave runs down T-tubules and opens calcium stores in the fiber — that is how a command becomes a contraction. As soon as acetylcholine is released, acetylcholinesterase clips it apart. The transmitter may act only once. Without that clip, the muscle would seize and stay seized. Stop is not an afterthought. Stop is built into the synapse. Course 01’s body-dialog belongs on this fact: hold, yield, or stuck.

Why this sits next to kinesiology

A thought is not a twitch. The arm is a translator. When the field contracts, the translator weakens. When the field is coherent, the translator holds. Chiropractic reads that in structure — joint, spindle, guarding. Chinese medicine reads it in sinew and the channel that will not carry a clean impulse. Same body. Two maps. Chapter VII is the tissue under both.
