Mid and lower trapezius, spleen
A read of this page, with the plate.

This class does not take the upper trapezius. Middle fibers from T1–T5 to the spine of the scapula: they retract. Lower fibers from T6–T12 to the root of the spine: they depress the blade and help it upwardly rotate. The source slide wrote ‘retration.’ The word is retraction. Nerve: accessory (CN XI) and C3–C4.
Spleen as address
Mid-trapezius was the spleen door in Class 1. Kapel’s emotional pair here is self-esteem and self-blame. Classical TCM gives spleen over-thought and worry. We say whose vocabulary we are in. Feelings have jobs. You name retract, or depress. You name the door.
Practice
Reach a hand toward the opposite back pocket, slow. Feel the lower trapezius work without hiking the shoulder toward the ear. Name depression. Name spleen.
Check
Lower trapezius helps the scapula to:
- Depress and upwardly rotate ✓
- Shrug toward the ear — that is upper trapezius, not this class
- Protract, with serratus
Depression and upward rotation. Upper trap is not this class. Serratus protracts.
You use this fiber by:
- Naming spleen as the address — self-regard against self-blame — and asking which fibers are on ✓
- Parking it on liver with the rhomboids, because both retract
- Parking upper and lower trap on lung, because the girdle lifts into air
Spleen is the door. Liver is rhomboid. Lung waits on serratus as a fork, and on deltoid in a later course.
Middle fibers from T1 on this hour:
- Middle fibers from T1 as a bottle you write
- T5 to the spine of the scapula: they retract ✓
- Squeezing the gate until it 'opens'
Middle fibers from T1 — T5 to the spine of the scapula: they retract
Lower fibers from T6 on this hour:
- A dose you write from a yield
- T12 to the root of the spine: they depress the blade and help it upwardly rotate ✓
- Treating every hour as interchangeable production
Lower fibers from T6 — T12 to the root of the spine: they depress the blade and help it…
This hour teaches that:
- A bottle that finishes the feeling
- The source slide wrote 'retration.' The word is retraction. ✓
- Opening a chakra by squeezing it
The source slide wrote 'retration.' The word is retraction.
Mid and lower trapezius, spleen — keep this:
- Thyroxine from the medulla
- Kapel's emotional pair here is self-esteem and self-blame. ✓
- A cream you prescribe from the chart

- Living against the tide on purpose
We say whose vocabulary we are in.

- Inventing a colorful story so the session feels complete
- Reach a hand toward the opposite back pocket, slow. ✓
- A rigid medical diagnosis you must stamp
Method before bottle. Trace what the lesson names.
The lab on this hour is for:
- A graded exam that invents the next curriculum
- Feeling and naming what the lesson maps — journal, not a bottle ✓
- A prescription pad for the lab name
Lab is literacy. Not a dose from the yield.
"Mid and lower trapezius, spleen" here is best treated as:
- A tourist collection of special experiences
- This class does not take the upper trapezius. ✓
- A rigid diagnosis tool that replaces sleep
Train with the map. Do not invent a second sky.
